The New Yards Are Ready!
With great anticipation from children, parents and staff we opened our amazing new play space today in the Kinder/Pre Kinder yard. The children weren’t sure where to play at first as they were so excited running to and from each new experience trying to explore all areas. We heard a lot of “wow, look at this”. “I’m in the jungle” and “watch me climb”. This was all said with great enthusiasm and excitement. We are so proud of our new space and are overjoyed to see the children getting so much enjoyment out of it already.
How to help heal trauma with your child.
When children experience abuse, abandonment, or other deep hurts, the adults in their lives may not know how to help them. Many people believe topics like psychological healing only belong to the professionals. But “professionals,” however helpful they may be, do not have enough time to impact children in the same way as those who are involved with them daily. This article is meant to help parents and caregivers support the children, adolescents, and even adults in their lives who are overcoming the damage caused by an abusive relationship or other types of trauma.

Creating harmony in our world
Recent events in our corner of the world, have highlighted for me our responsibility as parents and educators to teach our children about cultural inclusion and equity for all.Our children are brought into the world knowing nothing but unconditional love and acceptance, both for themselves and others. It is up to us to consider messages that our children are receiving in our culture that is contrary to this basic way of being. Yesterday was Harmony day in Australia, a day to focus on and celebrate the multitude of cultures that make up our wonderful and diverse country. At kinder we have focused on some ways that we engage with and respond to different cultural celebrations, and we invite the opportunity to continue to examine the value and richness that diversity brings to our lives.

Benefits of Free Play
Is your child getting enough ‘free play’? Child-led free play – the unstructured time during which children can act out their fantasies, create their own rules, and explore the world at their own pace – profoundly benefits their early development. But here’s the thing: While experts agree that undirected play is vital, it is disappearing in favor of organized athletic, artistic, and academic activities. In moderation, these structured classes can be enriching, but ditching playtime all together comes at a cost to a child’s growth and wellbeing. As you consider and plan your child’s weekly routine, here are 43 vital reasons to prioritize and safeguard free play.
Happy Families with Dr. Justin Coulson ~ How To Turn Your Anger Around Without Yelling
Every parent has those days. The ones where your child has refused to get ready for school, thrown food at his brother and stomped on the dog’s tail. Or you ask, and ask again. And again. And AGAIN! And the kids just won’t listen… or if they listen, they won’t do as they’re told! When days like that happen – and they do – we can get so angry that we lash out. With smacking now being seen as less “acceptable”, the lashing out often takes the form of yelling.
